Butterfly Classroom

During the ages of 4-5, children are continuing to learn about themselves, and their feelings. They have a growing vocabulary, and are ever more creative and imaginative. This causes them to ask more questions, and begin to think more logically. They are energetic, and often silly. Their learning styles are often more individualized by this time. Their writing becomes more proficient during this time as well.

In the Butterfly classroom, we focus on all aspects of a Pre-K curriculum – math, language arts and literacy, science, social studies, art and music, and of course, social and emotional growth. Some specific examples are as follows:

  • Writing and recognition of capital and lower case letters
  • Shape, color, and number recognition
  • Spelling and writing names
  • Phonics
  • Patterns and sequencing
  • Problem solving
  • Development of fine motor skills through the use of scissors and other activities
